Research + Approach
n recent years, there has been a trend of brands merging e-commerce and editorial content. I used this methodology while approaching this project to better enhance the quality of the shoppers experience. User research has shown that this approach can be successful, but it is important to strike the right balance between editorial and commercial content.
Key findings from user research include:
Shoppers appreciate the ability to learn about products and trends before they make a purchase.
Editorial content can help shoppers build trust with a brand.
Shoppers are more likely to make a purchase if they feel like they are getting a good deal.
Brands that have successfully merged e-commerce and editorial include:
Goop
Into the Gloss
The Line
Net-a-Porter
Mr Porter
These brands have been able to create a unique shopping experience that is both informative and inspiring. They have also been able to build a loyal customer base by providing high-quality products and editorial content.
After research I devised a plan for the launch of Palette. After taking stock of potential products I created visual assets that would be used as banners, shopping pages, social media imagery and with interactive design would link to affiliate pages. By linking to product pages for partner companies we illuminated the need to create product pages which elevated the Palette experience.

Product Page Functionality
After clicking on a color, the landing page will allow the user to toggle between seeing the links to the products, or to solely view the image. After clicking on the price they will be brought to the product page of the designer or store.
Mobile
The mobile App was developed to be a quick resource to the desktop site. Elements such as the opening logo were added to give provide more energy being that the user might be on the go.
Added Mobile Feature
Within the mobile app a oppportunity for an added feature was realized. Here, a city guide was developed for users to find local stores that Palette partners with. These are vendors that are already partners with the business, and users will be able to shop in person. This feature further creates a sense of community and helps Palette see what shoppers are interested in.
